This technology can be described as bringing progress to and more efficient broadband transmissions broadcasting. Satellite transmission broadcast via a radio signal. There are satellite service broadcaster also known as direct broadcast satellite (DBS) providers. Two prominent and well-known DBS providers are DIRECTV and the Dish Network. They beam the programs acting as a broking firm, paying broadcaster like ESPN, HBO, movie stations etc available via satellite and re-sell them to the viewer. They buy these programs wholesale and re-sell them for a profit. The DBS providers create a system more cost-effective and simpler than the bogus large satellite dishes. So they provide their subscribers with a small satellite dish that viewers could easily attach to their houses or apartments. These DBS providers have resellers and vendors all over the globe opening up a whole new market for their programs. Program packages were repackages and rebranded in some cases by selecting certain channels and bundling them, often in a theme – like sports, movies, documentaries, retro, etc. today viewers are having increasing options they could choose from the package that best fit their viewing preferences, and need not pay for channels they are not interested in.
So in review, here’s the basic path of a radio signal containing television programming: the programming source (the broadcaster), to a satellite, to the DBS broadcast center, back to a satellite, to the viewer’s receiver, to the television set. Now most of the channels have created streaming sites on the internet where with the help of the satellite TV on PC software, these links can be pooled together for an internet user to watch these channels and TV station broadcasts. This technology is entirely legal is regulated through the internet. It works with most operating systems including Windows 2000 and Windows XP, I have tried it on windows vista and the reception and video picture quality was excellent. Fortunately, for many, it doesn't require any special computer knowledge. If you can install a program that you've downloaded then you can install this program and be watching television in a matter of minutes.
One of the amazing aspects to satellite TV picture quality software is that there aren't any reoccurring costs. One should be aware that you do need to have access to high-speed internet facility, but as far as paying for the quality satellite television; there are no additional fees once the software has been loaded. |

Basically a satellite broadcast carries both picture and sound signals and they are broadcasted in C-band radio (3.4 Gigahertz [GHz] to 7 GHz). The Ku band frequency (12 GHz to 14 GHz) was introduced to provide superior video and audio to its subscribers. This actually led to the invention of the High-Definition Television (HDTV) with increasing optimal picture and sound quality as the one found in today’s theater and cinemas.
The broadcasts from the satellite transmission are converted into a high-quality, uncompressed digital stream containing a lot of data, and sends it at a speed of 270 megabits per second (Mbps) for each channel. The broadcast data is compressed, so that the satellite would be able to receive it. The system of compression used in the U.S. is the MPEG-2 compressed video format.
The satellite service broadcaster also known as direct broadcast satellite (DBS) providers could now reduce the 270-Mbps stream to about 5 or 10 Mbps, enabling them to transmit about 200 channels, instead of the 30 they could transmit before compression. The signal was scrambled so only paid subscribers could receive it. This was the turning point towards the huge success the DBS providers now experience. This technique of been able to compressed these channels and decode them on arrival put them ahead of the cable companies.
The receiver device at the subscriber end accepts the transmission and converts it into a format that can be viewed on the TV. The receiver does three basic things. It receives and de-scrambles the broadcasted signals with the help of the decoder. It separates the individual channels as requested by the subscriber by way of the channel selector button on the TV or remote control. It tracks the subscriber pay-per-view usage, the special programs being order, and sends your billing information for this programming to the provider.Conclusively it noteworthy that you watch these same channels on your PC today paying only small one time fee of about $50 for a satellite TV on PC. With the rapid advancement of satellite TV technology, anyone can watch any TV programs around the world. You can even watch live TV coverage of major sporting events right in the comfort of your own home. |
